Our studio is open to the public on Wednesdays from 1-4pm when our administrator is in. Public who wish to visit the studio can make an appointment by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 613-256-5556.
Studio Potters have access to the studio when it is not booked for classes or workshops. We hold classes Monday to Friday afternoons and evenings.
ACCESS TO THE STUDIO (PARKING)
We are located at 95 Bridge Street in the beautiful town of Almonte, ON. Parking is adjacent to the studio, keeping in mind we do share half of the parking lot with the Bicycle business next to us. If you cannot find parking in the lot, parking on the street is allowed.
CLASSES & WORKSHOPS
How do I register for a class or workshop?
All registrations are done online at https://classes.almontepottersguild.com/wp/adult-classes/.
If there is a class or workshop that you really want to take but it is full, you can go on the waiting list and if we get a cancellation, you will be notified of the opening. We do contact people on our waiting lists when the new session of courses and workshops are open for registration.
Can I cancel a registration and get a refund?
Please review our cancellation and refund policy.
What happens when a class or workshop is canceled?
There will be times where we have to cancel a class due to inclement weather, sudden instructor illness or other unforeseen circumstances beyond our control. We will inform you by email or by phone if it is short notice. Please review your email notifications before coming to each class/workshop.
Classes impacted by a cancellation for any of the above noted reasons will be extended and an email will be sent to inform you of the new end date for your class.
What to bring for my first class or a workshop?
We provided all necessary tools and supplies but you may bring your own (make sure your name is on all your tools). We do have basic pottery kits available for purchase.
Although the mud is washable, you should bring an apron or wear clothes that you do not mind getting messy. Closed toe shoes are required in the studio. Indoor shoes are required during the winter or on rainy days. A hand towel is also recommended.
For wheel classes, it is recommended to avoid heels or long garments (skirts, scarves, etc), tie back long hair, and you may want to remove jewelry and trim nails in advance of working with clay.
Do I bring my own clay?
Only clay purchased from the Almonte Potters Guild can be used at the studio. Clay can be purchased when you enroll for your class. You will receive an email before your 1st class indicating if you have purchased or will need to purchase clay. Instructions will be provided on how to pay for clay at this point.
Are my pieces ready for pick up?
All participants will be emailed 2-3 weeks after their classes or workshops have ended with details on when the studio will be open for pick up. It is recommended you note how many pieces you made, what colour glaze you used on each piece and photos are great too! When coming to pick up your pieces, please bring a sturdy box or bag if you have several pieces. We only hold pieces for 4 weeks post class or workshop.
What if I don’t finish my pieces during the course?
We cannot offer make-up classes due to the high volume of classes and studio potter usage of our facility. Participants must complete all projects from their class by the last day where possible.
We do offer gift certificates which can be purchased online. If you have any questions or require assistance, please contact our studio at 613-256-5556.
DO YOU SELL POTTERY?
We do have a few pieces for sale that are displayed in our studio window. Most of our sales happen several times throughout the year at our studio and at other venues in Almonte and surrounding communities. We do post on the home page when and where our sales will be happening.
CUSTOM MADE POTTERY REQUESTS
We do have studio potter members who may be able to do custom orders. Please email us at email@example.com or call at 613-256-5556.
PRIVATE LESSONS or PRIVATE GROUP or EVENT WORKSHOPS
At this time we do not offer private lessons.
Depending on the studio availability, it is possible that we can accommodate a private group (friends, business, etc). It is best to either email a request at firstname.lastname@example.org or call at 613-256-5556.
How do I become a studio member? Almonte Potters Guild does offer studio potter memberships. At this time we are filled to capacity but you can go on our waiting list by submitting an online application.
