Saskia Praamsma

 

Saskia grew up playing with clay in her mother’s studio in Amsterdam where her mother was a professional potter / ceramic artist.  She studied at the Rietveld Academy and apprenticed in a commercial pottery.

While living in the US she studied with Don Reitz at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

In Canada she worked at the Sheridan School of Design in Mississauga where she was part of the team that founded the Harbourfront Craft Studios in Toronto.

In Botswana, Africa she taught and worked at the Thamaga Pottery at the Botswelelo Centre.

In 2007 in Kabul, Afghanistan, she spent six months teaching and launching the Turquoise Mountain School of Ceramics.

Since 2002 she has been a founding member of the Almonte Potters Guild, which she currently manages and where she also creates her own work.  She teaches classes to students young and old and to studio potters.
